From NZ to Perth: How Following My Daughter—and My Purpose—Transformed My Life

Earlier this year, I did something radical. I quit my job, sold my house, my car, and most of my belongings, and left my friends and community in New Zealand—all to move to Perth, be closer to my daughter, and fulfil a long-held dream: launching my purpose coaching business, Clarity Within.

I won’t sugarcoat it. The journey was filled with overwhelming moments. There were bouts of exhaustion, deep fatigue, and unexpected challenges—from managing logistics to dealing with goodbyes. Some people around me didn’t want me to leave; others cheered for me with excitement and hope. I rode a rollercoaster of emotions, from the grief of leaving everything comfortable to the joy and anticipation of building something new.

So, how did I stay focused, keep my balance, and not lose sight of my “why”?

Staying Focused Through Turbulence

  • Breathe Work & Mindfulness: I leaned deeply into breathwork and mindfulness, reminding myself to stay grounded and present, even when anxiety or doubt crept in.

  • Intentional Rest: I gave myself permission to rest more, cut back on old habits (like that extra glass of wine), and prioritized my energy and wellbeing.

  • Positive Support Network: I surrounded myself with positive, supportive people who believed in my journey—and I let go of relationships rooted in fear and resistance.

  • Hourly Dream Reminder: I set a reminder in my phone every hour—a nudge that “I am living my dream.” This anchor kept me connected to my higher self and my deepest purpose.

  • Joy & Flow: I committed to doing things I love, finding joy in the everyday, and letting go of the need to control every detail. More than ever, I learned to trust the process, believing that whatever unfolds is part of my story. I also keep close the belief that the only thing I could control was myself and how I reacted with the understanding that others were coming from their own perspective and it was not all about me.

  • Purposeful Action: Even when my progress felt slow, I focused on small actions that moved me forward, and I stayed true to my core purpose: to be the kind, caring, and loving person I am at heart.

The Beginning of a New Chapter

Now, I write this from Perth—the city where a new chapter begins for both me and Clarity Within. All the challenges, goodbyes, and moments of doubt were actually bridges to something richer: a life aligned with my purpose, surrounded by family, and finally doing the work I am called to do.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: Real transformation is messy, emotional, and rarely simple. But with clarity, mindfulness, purposeful action, and a strong support network, it’s not only possible—it’s beautiful.

If you find yourself at a crossroads, or yearning to live your own purpose with courage, I invite you to reach out. Sometimes, a single step—with intention—can change everything.

Let’s connect if you want to talk about your dreams, your purpose, or just need a reminder that living authentically is always worth it.
